Invasives Clearing Continues

Invasives Clearing Continues

This weekend our bulldozer operator was still hard at work clearing the invasive autumn olives and bradford pears. There were many tulip poplars as well which aren't a big problem, but they do nothing to further our objectives with the property.

I took a longer drone video and some really cool shots of the bulldozer pushing roots. But I thought this accidental picture captured the essence of how I feel at this point in the project.

My youngest son is clearly captivated by some fancy flying camera, we are powering the house remodel with a trailer mounted solar generator, and I drove an electric car to the site. Modern "more sustainable" solutions that don't quite check all of the boxes. Meanwhile, short-term destruction is going on in the background. Growing pains I guess. All I can do is trust the end justifies the means.

We are going to be seeding some cover crops that are hopefully able to out-compete (with regular mowing) the invasive seedlings when they pop up. That happens this week, so maybe this queasy feeling in my stomach will go away once I get seeds on ground.
