Lets Talk About Hunting

In the above image you can see where we've plowed and planted about two acres of buckwheat. This is step 18 or 19 of a bajillion step process where we are in the process of converting a field into native prairie grasses under the guidance of the Dept of Fish and Wildlife. Big Bluestem, and wildflowers are supposed to be excellent for game animals and other wildlife.

While we have received free guidance from the Dept of Fish and Wildlife so far we've been unable to garner any kind of actual physical or financial assistance in this effort.

Let me tell you. Its been expensive, from purchasing land, to two wheel tractor implements, herbicides. We've sunk countless hours, target spraying invasive plant, and chasing failed experiments. Buckwheat seed, for this field, and just for this planting was around $200.00.

We are going to allow very limited hunting this year, There are a ton of game animals that visit our farm every day. We've encouraged them to visit by providing them the habitat that they thrive in. However, it wasn't free or cheap. You may hunt on our land ONLY with express written permission. Anyone else will get promptly trespassed.

TL:DR Maintaining habitat is expensive, please ask for permission to hunt and don't just be a taker.
